If you add code like the one below to theme.nss you will get what you want, you can change the max. min. values as you wish. I think this is what you want.

Thank you for the replies. After I posted my question, I came across a video that showed menu widening being done in shell.nss using: theme.layout.width= I am totally new to Shell, so I don't understand the difference between these 2 different techniques and when one might be preferred over the other. I'd appreciate any advice. |

Is there a 'minimum width' setting that can be specified to prevent menus from getting too skinny if they happen to have only very short menu named items on them?
I understand and fully accept menu-width variation is normal, but in some cases the width variation is extreme (and really skinny menus look ugly too!).
