Minimum Width setting

Is there a 'minimum width' setting that can be specified to prevent menus from getting too skinny if they happen to have only very short menu named items on them?

I understand and fully accept menu-width variation is normal, but in some cases the width variation is extreme (and really skinny menus look ugly too!).

If you add code like the one below to theme.nss you will get what you want, you can change the max. min. values ​​as you wish. I think this is what you want.

layout.width=[200, 500] // [min, max]

[auto, max]
[min, auto]

After I posted my question, I came across a video that showed menu widening being done in shell.nss using: theme.layout.width=

I am totally new to Shell, so I don't understand the difference between these 2 different techniques and when one might be preferred over the other. I'd appreciate any advice.
