Issue on connecting CW at Arch Linux kernel 6.17.3 mirror date 20251001

Hi,

I want to report an issue on Arch Linux. The Arch mirror on 20251001 (change /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist)

Server = https://archive.archlinux.org/repos/2025/08/01/$repo/os/$arch

with kernel version 6.17.3 x86_64, cannot connect to CW: just simply do scope=cw.scope() in a python session, it raises the typical OSError: Unable to communicate with found ChipWhisperer.

I have already set back to the mirror 20250801 kernel 6.15.8, and things work again.

My CW software git log is c6c36dd8221a4e0e80d14296d779cac59983e8d5.

I believe that this issue is not CW's software problem, but possibly the newly updated firmware incompatible.

Do the versions of systemd differ between the two arch mirror versions?
I ran into a similar problem a few weeks ago and found that an upgraded systemd version was the culprit.

Today I was hit by the same problem and I can report that I was able to move the system to 20250917 with some binary searching and CW was still detected.

So far the most suspicious upgrade is systemd-258, but I will keep trying to isolate the problem.

I solved the issue by uncommenting the uaccess tags in the CW udev rules, and now I'm running an up-to-date Arch Linux system again.
