I see no reason why this plugin couldn't be added to https://wordpress.org/plugins/. It would greatly improve visibility & adoption potential, add the ability to browse/search for & install the plugin right within the site admin, and make it so version updates are automatically made available to sites with the plugin already installed.

Really, not having the ability to install & update this plugin without a manual file download and then upload seems like the biggest shortcoming impacting users. Discoverability then comes in for building more support, adoption, community potential, etc.

I was able to add a plugin to the directory myself in a matter of minutes following this info & related guides: https://wordpress.org/plugins/developers/add/ (this is also the page where you submit the plugin to the directory [you need to be logged in to be presented the upload form.])
