Favorites bar updates randomly

1. Go to https://nolanlawson.github.io/emoji-picker-element/ with a clean browser cache
2. Click the 🤑 emoji a bunch of times
3. Click the 👋 to go to the second category
4. The favorites bar now updates (on step 3)

This is a bit weird – it feels like either the favorites bar should never update while you're using the picker, or it should update immediately after clicking an emoji.
