How to set a custom prompt template for each model in GPT4All?

I'm trying to assign a unique prompt template to each model in GPT4All. Is there a way to specify a custom template per model, either through the models3.json file or another configuration method?

1. Model-Specific Templates: For a given model, it is important to use an appropriate chat template, as each model is designed to work best with a specific format.
2. Test Changes: These settings take effect immediately. After changing them, you can click "Redo last response" in the chat view, and the response will take the new settings into account.

While you asked about models3.json, the current GPT4All system manages per-model templates through the GUI settings rather than direct JSON file modification. The templates are stored in GPT4All's configuration and applied on a per-model basis automatically.

In GPT4all, click the Settings icon from the left-hand bar, then select "Model". Choose the installed model you wish to customize from the list, and modify the System Message and/or Chat Template as desired.
