Macedonian: Translation

@andrijeski The daily-dozen-localization repository is where translations are submitted for both the Daily Dozen Android and Daily Dozen iOS applications. Steven Litrov (@salitrov) is the Global Volunteer Director for translations across the broad range of NutrtionFacts media types.

Please read the Documentation/Quickstart.md documentation to get an overall understanding of the submission process.

We are currently on revision 5 (v05) of the translations for the Android and Apple OS applications. The starting files for a Macedonian translation are available here:

• Macedonian/tsv/v05/Macedonian_mk.app.v05.tsv
• Macedonian/tsv/v05/Macedonian_mk.store.v05.tsv

@andrijeski, before proceeding, would you agree to the following?

• Migrate what has been already been translated from the Android values-mk/strings.xml into the Macedonian_mk.app.v05.tsv and Macedonian_mk.store.v05.tsv TSV spreadsheet files.
  • Adding the Macedonian translations daily-dozen-android#253
• Complete the Macedonian translations for all rows in the Macedonian_mk.app.v05.tsv and Macedonian_mk.store.v05.tsv files.
• Have access to, and work with, other Macedonian users during the testing phase so that detailed testing is completed on both Android and Apple OS devices.
• Be willing to provide future Macedonian translation updates, as needed, for the Daily Dozen mobile applications.

@marc-medley in general, I agree with your suggestion.

Attached are the translated files. They may not be ideal at this point, but it is my best effort.

I can recruit some users that can help with the testing and I can dedicate time to go through the testing phase, also provide future Macedonian translation updates.

Can you tell me a bit more on the testing process? How can these users test the translated app? Do I need to compile and distribute it myself or there's a defined process for that?

@andrijeski, Thank you submitting the Macedonian TSV spreadsheet files. I will have a chance to process the TSV files and provide feedback after some taking care of some release details for the addition of Persian and Ukrainian which are the translations now completing a release phase.

Generally, the Daily Dozen app maintainers will provide a beta version of the software for testing. Although one could build and test the source code, it is the maintainers' builds that would be release candidates for global public releases.

At this time, the Daily Dozen iOS has a public beta with the addition of Persian and Ukrainian.

@andrijeski The Daily Dozen iOS v3.5.1 with the addition of Persian and Ukrainian has completed Apple review and has been released worldwide in the App Store. The Macedonian TSV files that you have submitted have also been processed. Updates, feedback, and next action steps are listed below.

Quotations Marks

Quotations marks where synchronized to consistently use left and right quotation marks. The UTF/UTF-8 characters used are shown in Languages/Macedonian/MacedonianCharacters.text.

Untranslated Lines

Lines where the English base_value column are still the same as the Macedonian lang_value are listed in Macedonian_mk_TranslationReview_01.txt

These lines will need to be reviewed for whether the lines were intended to be left equivalent to the original English reference, or if the lines still need to be translated.

These translation review lines have the format "key_apple"="lang_value"; which maps to the TSV key_apple and lang_value columns. For example "history_data_export_text" = "Export has been written to:"; indicates that the TSV row containing the history_data_export_text as the apple_key has the translation lang_value of "Export has been written to:" … which is notably still in English.

Action Items

@andrijeski, the next steps would be for you (or a translator that you are working with) to use the Macedonian_mk_TranslationReview_01.txt list as a basis for reviewing and updating the current TSV files to complete any missing Macedonian translations.

@marc-medley sorry for the delay. Still willing to continue on this, is Macedonian_mk_TranslationReview_01.txt still the latest file I should work on?

@andrijeski First, complete v05 based on the prior feedback and action items.

Then, after v05 is completed, there will be a v06 update to review and translate. v05 needs to be completed and processed before starting v06 because of how the version changesets interlace. v06 will be about 36 rows to review and translate.
