Would it be possible to sign the exes and installer to avoid issues with antivirus software?

This is a good question. Any suggestion for code signing certificate for open source software like this? I did a quick search and found there used be some free code signing certificate from Certum but that's no longer avaliable. I wonder how other open source software get signed.
