Index snapshot is in initialising, please wait stage and not progressing at all

I have created index policy for snapshot for opendistro. The policy was working for a while and it broke since last Monday.
The error on the GUI is "Initialising, please wait". Please note that the transition and state never changes and it remain as it is and all the indexes are green.
