Expected behavior

When the student clicks the “Download Handout” button, the file should start downloading automatically in the background without interrupting the video playback or altering the video player area.

Actual behavior

When Handout is an image and the user clicks the “Download Handout” button, the handout appears over the video area, causing the video to stop playing. Additionally, the file does not begin downloading automatically, and no download prompt appears.

Steps to reproduce

  1. As an author, log in to Studio.
  2. Add a video component to a unit.
  3. Upload an image file (e.g., .jpg, .png) in the “Handout” section of the video component settings.
  4. Publish the unit.
  5. As a student, navigate to the course and open the unit containing the video.
  6. Start playing the video.
  7. Click the “Download Handout” button while the video is playing.
  8. Observe that the image handout is displayed over the video, causing the video to stop.
  9. Notice that the image does not download automatically and no download prompt appears.
