Multilingual images not linked to correct language

When importing multilingual images (e.g. front_FR, front_IT), the images are uploaded correctly to the product, but they are not associated with the expected language.

Steps to reproduce:

• Import an image using the front_FR or front_IT field.
• Go to the product page.
• The image appears, but it’s not selected for the correct language.

Expected behavior:

• Images imported via front_xx fields should be automatically assigned to language xx.

Notes:

• Language attributes don’t appear in the import interface, is that expected?
