This topic has come up many times over the years as we work to make our Code of Conduct policies robust

We should decide and document what the foundation would like to happen when there is an egregious conduct violation and/or a pattern of bad behavior in an attempt to avoid having that person behave similarly in other foundation spaces or projects.

This really only applies to projects who administer their own conduct moderation practices.

To decide:

  • to what level or what extent must bad behavior rise to in order to be subject to such information sharing
  • how is that information acted upon at the foundation level, eg. ban from all foundation projects and spaces

Notes from this week's CPC call:

  • Discussed in a working session, not raised in the CPC for input
  • Potential legal challenges here. Updating policies to account for this.
  • Bar needs to be high. E.g. a ban.
  • We might need to provide more info/context for projects to be able to make the call
  • Who do you inform in a project?
  • Overall feeling seems to be in favor of being able to share this information for egregious cases.
  • Potential working session topic
