Permissions issue when loading a model on macOS

Computer: Macbook Pro (M1 Max), macOS Sequoia 15.3.2

Issue: Loading a model leads to the following pop-up.

Workaround: Changed the permissions of the folder containing that temporary file so that the "everyone" group has "Read & Write" access (previously "Read only").

@AlbertoCasasOrtiz do we have existing "Developer ID Application" and "Developer ID Installer certificate"? They managed to make the process excessively painful that we may need to buy credentials afterall.

Yes, I can get around the permission with the fix above. The model says it's loaded, but I don't see the visualizer and I have this error.

I am also seeing the same permission error and get the same stack trace when attempting to load a model.

IIRC, one thing that's different now is that the Visualizer Window doesn't appear on startup but did in previous artifacts (i.e., just an empty gray section of the window, see screenshot).

Ok, one experiment, can you add the following switch to the opensim.conf file?
-J-Dnetbeans.janitor.enabled=false
Basically this crash happens within the platform code before all the opensim modules are loaded (including the browser) while trying to do cleanup.
The file opensim.conf should be found at something like
/Applications/OpenSim 4.6-2025-10-18-dfa10e2/OpenSim 4.6-2025-10-18-dfa10e2.app/Contents/Resources/opensim/etc
I can do the change in the codebase but the cycle will be much longer. Thanks for your help The fact that models loaded and that tree was populated is encouraging that the arm64 stack in Java is functional.

Following up to see if either of you @carmichaelong or @mattpetrucci was able to go past this error. Another workaround would be to delete the cache (which this code is attempting to cleanup) to make it past this point. I primarily want to see the jxBrowser window show up for further testing. If you can check the list of jar files under
/..../OpenSim 4.6-2025-10-18-dfa10e2.app/Contents/Resources/opensim/modules/ext for JxBrowser*.jar files that would also be helpful to test the delivery/packaging. Thank you

I didn't find a folder named Library/Application Support/OpenSim, so I wasn't able to try deleting the cache.

Installing 4.6-2025-10-22-25cc74d for only the current user avoids the permissions issue and can load a model as usual.

I did notice upon first opening the application that the same null pointer exception still occurs (as below), so this seems like a separate issue?
