Allow having multiple views

This would be helpful for graphical editing and restore functionality that was available in early releases.

Need to assess, the bang for the buck, may not be hard to implement.

With a couple minor changes to configuration we can enable multiple independent viewer windows. Would love to hear thoughts on if this would be useful.
