/etc/iproute2/rt_tables: No such file or directory

I'm facing an error during setup screen:
sed: can't read /etc/iproute2/rt_tables: No such file or directory

Here is what I have done:

• In Raspberry Pi Imager, flashed a SD Card with Ubuntu 24.04 64 bits
• Used it on a Raspberry Pi4
• Cloned ot-be-posix with "--recursive". NB: At this stage the RPi is connected by Ethernet
• Run bootstrap script (still by ethernet)
• I'm then switching to Wifi.
• Run "INFRA_IF_NAME=wlan0 ./script/setup"

I'm then getting the above error.

I'm attaching the traces.
Do you think that it is related to the change of interface (eth -> wifi)?

If I use the Ethernet interface and call "INFRA_IF_NAME=wlan0 ./script/setup" (which is odd), I get the same error

I have also tried this:

• connect the RPi by Wifi
• bootstrap
• Run "INFRA_IF_NAME=wlan0 ./script/setup"
  I'm getting the same error.

A clean is maybe necessary to flush what has been built before for Ethernet.

I have fixed it with:

sudo mkdir -p /etc/iproute2
sudo touch /etc/iproute2/rt_tables
echo -e "255\tlocal\n254\tmain\n253\tdefault\n0\tunspec" | sudo tee /etc/iproute2/rt_tables
sudo chmod 644 /etc/iproute2/rt_tables

Is it normal that I had to do this after an installation from scratch?

rt_tables should be created here as part of setup:

ot-br-posix/script/_rt_tables

Fails to do so as iproute2 is not an existing directory. I get this error with both wifi and thread not sure why. This is occuring on the following OS:

Command:

sudo sh -c 'echo "88 openthread" >>/etc/iproute2/rt_tables' 

Response:

sh: 1: cannot create /etc/iproute2/rt_tables: Directory nonexistent

@nichonaugle , did you try creating the /etc/iproute2 directory as mentioned in #2552 (comment)

@jwhui Yes that worked. If it is a common issue then it seems like it should be added to the build guide or included in the bootstrap or setup scripts.
