Standalone Wireguard Setup Problem

Hey,
I setup wireguard vpn server using ansible-wireguard-openwisp's role on a new ec2 instance, completely independent of openwisp server I have. I am facing an issue where openwisp is not able to communicate to the devices I register unless I add them in /etc/wireguard/wg0.conf file in openwisp server. But I cant do this for hundreds of routers.
Please help me fix the issue or tell me if I am missing something or I need to change my setup somehow
