Missing source distributions (sdist) on PyPI for versions ≥2.20.8

Starting with version 2.20.8, xprof no longer publishes source distributions (sdist) to PyPI. This makes installation on systems which have no pre-built wheels available more complicated

Versions with source distribution:

• https://pypi.org/project/xprof/2.20.6/#files - has xprof-2.20.6.tar.gz
• https://pypi.org/project/xprof/2.20.7/#files - has xprof-2.20.7.tar.gz

Versions without source distribution:

• https://pypi.org/project/xprof/2.20.8/#files - wheels only
• https://pypi.org/project/xprof/2.20.9/#files - wheels only
• https://pypi.org/project/xprof/2.21.0/#files - wheels only
• https://pypi.org/project/xprof/2.21.1/#files - wheels only

I also notice these newer versions don't have corresponding https://github.com/openxla/xprof/releases (latest is v2.20.7), did something change in the release process?

Hi @mgraczyk, the source distributions have stopped being released as we believe they have little value. I'm curious to know how you've been using them. XProf relies on pybind, which means we need to compile for every py version/OS pair. The source distributions don't contain our binaries, or the C++ code that we compile, so the source distributions should have an extremely limited feature set (I believe you won't even be able to actually do anything).

Please let me know what your experience has been so far.

Also, I've generated the rest of the releases. The Github release process is disjointed from PyPI at the moment as it is still experimental on if it's something we want to maintain.
