I was converting all the old blog posts, and something that I think might help with community engagement is how would one get a blog post on the site?

It was probably limited by the old site and more accessible now with just plain markdown. A thought to ponder.

1. What's the submission process? Do we just have PRs for new blog posts and discuss relevance/fix typos there?
2. Do we allow Canonical URLs? I'd love to point back to my personal blog, but I have some posts coming up that I'd love to see on the BioJulia blog. I also think we should encourage people to cross post to the forem for general disability.
3. We could create an RSS aggregator like https://www.juliabloggers.com/ for Biology. Forem also has RSS feeds for tags https://forem.julialang.org/feed/tag/bioinformatics and the post explaining them https://dev.to/pachijun/comment/l882

Good idea. Maybe that itself should be a blog post 😄
I think we should just take PRs and review them there. And yes, I think crossposts are a good idea.
An RSS would be nice, but I doubt people are going to maintain it to be honest.

Sounds good, I'll write up a page on submitting a blog post! I think that and forem are the way to go with canonical links. Then we can tag them in forem with biojulia and any RSS people can follow those as they want.

Agree on all fronts. We can pretty easily build a Xranklin function that allows someone to do something like {{original_post https://myblog/somepost}} that inserts the canonical link and some boiler plate like "This post originally appeared at https://myblog/somepost"
