ClamAV error downloading daily.cvd #4529

|
Every so often I get an email from [email protected] with content similar to the following: When I run Which appears to indicate I am encountering a rate limit imposed by the ClamAV CDN - I doubt it is an issue with not running the latest version because I get this error less often than once per hour. I tried searching for similar issues, but couldn’t find anything. |

We add a cron task to check for updates every 6 hours: But looking at your error logs you were sent it seems like upon failure it tried again multiple times, roughly every 10-30s. I'm not familiar enough to know if those retries are from cron config elsewhere, or freshclam config. Either way, I think the rate limit is due to that, which is more of a symptom of the actual problem with your errors. For some reason the update I can't say for sure but it might be implied that the download was successful in prior error messages, and you only got the final error with a download failure once hitting the rate limit? That or even the update itself couldn't be written (or was only done partially). Maybe you've got limited disk space available? This I also recall another user reporting ClamAV accumulated quite a bit of those |
