It's also worth noting that I have this game on MVS; so I know what it should look like. |

Show more screenshots JJ, of game graphics instead of an opaque screen. |

Solution/"Fix" Long story short, older Mames colors were accurate; atleast with the games I tested. Somewhere alone the way something went wrong, or was added that messed with the colors! My job now is to test out multiple older versions (starting with 0.77), and make my way up until I find the last 1 before the colors were affected. |

Upvoting yourself with alt accounts won't give you better replies. The red opaque screenshots are not informative, so I'll ask again, could you make screenshots of game graphics? |

0.116 That was the last ver. with color accuracy. {With the games I play atleast.} Using this older Mame I do miss out on some key features...

Important FindI did notice a change that may have led to the colors getting strewed-up later on. Ironically enough it has to do with a red screen again. (The image above was from a flashing screen during a super move, but this 1 has to do with loading.) When NG games are loaded, there's always a garble screen that cycles through colors 1st. In older Mames [with color accuracy], the 1st color to show was Red. In later updates it started showing as Pink or Blue, then was completely removed from Mame. Now it goes straight to the Green screen, then loads the game. When the Red garble screen was removed, that's when things went wrong❗ Update: After running some more tests; it [seems] like only NG games were affected by this change. Meaning I can keep using the current Mame with all the updates. 🙂 I just hate switching between different versions like this! Hopefully the devs will see this and fix the problem! Here's an example where it's mixed. The foreground is right, but the background is wrong. |

I've been using Mame since the early 2000s, but a few months ago I tried out (Retroarch) FBA on Wii, and was blown away with the picture quality! 🤯
At 1st I thought it must be the Wii and it's gpu making these games look 50x better than PC. Until yesterday... After months of trying; I FINALLY got these games to look beautiful on PC just like the Wii! 👍🏻 Thing is, it's only with FBA using Retroarch.
This is a flash screen taking from the same NeoGeo game using Mame & (Retroarch) FBA. I tried adjusting the Brightness, Gamma & Contrast in Mame. And even if I get the red to match up with FBA; everything else gets strewed-up! (washed out, faded looking colors etc...)
I even tried (Retroarch) Mame, and the results are the same.
