Meshtastic 2.6.1 maps stopped working

I had the SD card maps working until I logged on via Bluetooth and changed the metric to imperial display setting.
Afterwards, with my GPS locked it still stays at Big Ben.
I changed back to metric and it's still acting the same.

I eventually had to do a complete erase and flashed the firmware (after I backed up the keys to the SD card).

It's not clear what you are trying to say. Please provide more info. If you have any logs then attach these logs.

I was very patient. I didn't try open any maps until the GPS showed a fix.
My point is the problem arises after a bluetooth connection to change the display from metric to Imperial.
Somewhere along that path things go south.
The SD card still shows in the screen so I assume it was still recognized but the coords in the lower left corner default to England and stay there.

You can also set your own home position which is also persistently saved across reboots. Just long press the crosshair icon and it saves midpoint and zoom level. Short press to recall.

That's a handy tip.
My issue acts like the center crosshair was pressed early on without my doing.
Just curious, if I have moved, will a long crosshair press over write the previous GPS fix?

gps fix and home position are two different things

short press will always recall the last home position, a locked gps will periodically (I think default is 15min) center the map at the current gps position
