API for syncronizing file system provider

When I copy files into my Music Assistant music directory I then need to click "Synchronize now" in the webui to get the new album(s) to appear.

Is there a way to automate this (beyond just waiting for the synchronization to happen on its own)? I'd love a way to interact with an API or send a signal for something to trigger this automatically.

Assuming it's not possible now, is there an implementation design that would be acceptable for a PR?

My apologies, I didn't realize this was already in the 2.4 beta -- this is working perfectly for me:
