Volume normalization on album level

Could we add a metadata flag to enable volume normalization for an album taking the average of all tracks?

Gapless albums with volume normalization sometimes have audible jumps in volume between tracks which is quite distracting.

Is this only on the first playback of the album? MA does a meaurement on the first playback so subsequent plays may be ok.

It's on replays as well.

One example where I noticed it is The Wall by Pink Floyd

The track "Empty Spaces" has a gain correction of -0.5dB while the next track has a gain correction of only -4.82dB.

Is this for local files?
Because we respect the replaygain 2.0 album tags

Or do you mean I should add those tags for albums where this is a problem?

So I ran rsgain on my copy of The Wall. After refreshing the metadata in music assistant I see this:

Empty Spaces:

Young Lust:

So music assistant does indeed read both the track and the album gain but it does seem to apply the track gain.

I found the piece of code that should determine if an album is played. I made sure to only play the album but for some reason this doesn't work yet 🤔

It seems album loudness was not used after all. See music-assistant/server#2107

I've also made a suggestion in music-assistant/server#2108 to also use the previous track to determine if the album gain should be used
