I’d love to request integration with Beatport as a music source. Beatport is one of the most widely used platforms by DJs around the world, offering a massive catalog of electronic music, curated charts, exclusive releases, and professional-grade tools. I have looked into this and whilst it is possible to search beatport it is not possible to stream from there. Given that limitation we won't be progressing this.

If anyone sees a change with beatport in the future let us know.

They do provide a streaming service: https://stream.beatport.com/ however their API doesn't provide any streaming endpoints. They do have lots of partners, mainly DJing platforms/tools, where you can stream from.

Here is a example implementation, to keep it save I would suggest that users need to bring their own streaming token for the application your mimicking, I have developed my own solution for this to.

It's legal for streaming partners, hence I would recommend some system where user need to bring the key from the streaming system, it has been banned before due to lucida. BTW they had the best ban ever every steamed or downloaded song ended being a rickroll instead of actual song 😂 they did not break the method they just trolled everyone. I can appreciate that. Anyway I think I'm well capable of building my own music provider for beatport since it is my miusic streaming of choice and on the highest plan. Streaming is allowed then, but it's mostly abused for downloading. Since the api just passes the raw flac or aac link depending on plan. @OzGso I'm BTW not going to look through the tos probably take me the same of time to make a private music provider since I was one of the first to privately fix it after the rickroll ;)

But the TLDR is you need a key from a legit streaming provider, that's the only sketchy thing so I would let users make they something they need to provide. You can find one of the keys in beatportdl

You cannot pirate if you allow streaming, users MIUST have a paid streamimg sunscription. the only part needing validation from the TOS is actually music-assistant applying to become its own streaming partner so you get your own key or let users bring a key. I have a private orpheusDL implementation, thats in python, should you ever want to look at it pm me since I also dont wan tto facilitate priacy so kept it private. top list is a funky one only not using API's so I srape the top100 tracks through chrome webdriver since they dont have that api all the rest they do. url = f"{self.API_URL}catalog/tracks/{track_id}/download/" this is a real API just undocumented that allows streaming the raw file. So you need logic to get playlist, releases, etc and then track ID's from json, but thats about it. and dont allow downloads ;) thats the piracy part, just use it for streaming, thats what users actually pay for ;)

And yes this implementation you can call piracy hence its not available online unlike beatportdl, but you still need the streaming plan.

Looking at the latest docs it seems they just opened it up and strreaming should work without anything special. No special key needed:

My built introduces a new flag called debug which defaults to false, setting it to true will save a debug file in the debug folder under orpheus root. your username and password should be obfuscated other things such as tokens not but it allows me to find issues if your run un to them :) Share on issue or mail to [email protected]

Downloading Charts using Web Scraping

In order to be able to download entire charts using Web Scraping you need to have Google Chrome installed and know which version it is, which you can find under Help > About Google Chrome.Once you know your version you can download the correct chromedriver for your OS from:Chrome for Testing availabilityFor my Windows 64 this means I would have to download: chromedriver-win64.zip and place the extracted chromedriver.exe in the modules folder.Chromedriver is supported across Win32/64, MacOS ARM and X64 and Linux X64. If both Google Chrome is installed and chromedriver.exe or chromedriver when on MacOS or Linux in the module folder the web scraping will happen automatically when trying to download a Chart for which we can't retrieve a playlist using the API.

ISRC-Based Track Lookup

For precise track identification, you can search directly by ISRC:

This method is completely legal

Method 1: username and password
This method is fully automatic and relies on holding your Beatport username and password inside your beets config file. It will authorize to the Beatport API using authorization_code grant type and client_id provided by beatport for the sake of their swagger-ui frontend in which you can test their API: https://api.beatport.com/v4/docs/ By default, client_id is scrapped automatically from the above URL. Alternatively, you can also pass it via plugin configuration.

Steps:

Add beatport4 plugin to your beets/config.yaml plugins list

Add below configuration and fill your credentials
