Can the pnpm store-dir be changed via environment variable?

Is there a specific environment variable, such as PNPM_STORE_DIR that I can use to influence where pnpm looks for its store directory? I don't see one documented. I only see the PNPM_HOME variable, which I don't want to use because that changes the location of more than just the store.

yes, you can set npm_config_store_dir. But it might change in v11. We need to use our own env variables.
