Chromecast seems to be broken

When trying to chromecast from Android, stream immediately exits. If you manually hit play it says bandwidth is too low.

Not sure if this issue is on the PMS side of things or what.

Thanks for the report. Does this happen for all the channels available?
Can you see if the same happens on a computer in your network, or a TV with Plex.
Also could you see if the app itself has quality settings and if lowering or make it higher helps the issue?

"The quality will also depend on the Online Video Quality settings on your Plex player app. It is best to set the Online Quality to "Original" to play the original quality offered by the website. If your online quality is set lower than the quality of the video, then your Plex player app may send it to PMS to be transcoded to that lower quality."

To me it sounds like a PMS problem as all my channel does is open the m3u8 stream and within that stream are links to more m3u8 (video streams) based on bandwidth (so it'll automatically lower the quality/move to a different stream if your connection can't manage.) that being said, that would never show you any error, so PMS is the one determiting there isnt enough bandwidth before attempting to stream.

For me Plex just opens the direct stream right away. I can only try the channel on /web/ an appleTV and a samsung TV, and they all work. I now wish one of them had this issue so it would be a hell of a lot easier to possibly fix.

Hey there so I was able to confirm the channel works just fine on the Firestick, Android client, web client, and LG WebOs. It's only when I try to chromecast from my android that it breaks. I was also able to replicate this by throttling the quality in the web client settings. This leads me to believe that this comes down to how PMS handles chromecast or maybe even the chromecast protocol itsself. I'm not able to find any specific settings related to chromecast.

I know for hls, the different quality options are displayed in the m3u file but I'm not sure how plex handles that, as it seems to want to just transcode everything by default

Thanks for investigating! I could only imagine it's something on PMS' side. I feel it's strange for them to even transcode a video stream but there's nothing we can do about that but how they address it in the future.

I don't know if reporting an issue would get them to address it.
However I'm glad to hear the channel works on all the other systems!
