Any tips on mechanism reassembly? #14

Having just spent over an hour fiddling with the metal wings and the spring that had come off my son's keyboard, I was wondering if some advice could be added to the main page. I found it incredibly frustrating to try and get the wings into their angled position and, whenever I did, the slightest shake of my hand whilst stretching the spring over would knock one side off again.
In the end, I wedged in 2 plastic spudger things, underneath the metal wings after they were in position. Then, I held each one in turn to reinforce the position of the wing while I attached the spring. This still took me a few attempts, so perhaps there's a better way.
Alternatively, are there any 3D printable tools that could help?
