Adding ukulele for tablatures

Thanks so much for this.
Is there a way to add ukulele for the tabs (I use the plugin version, but it might be useful in both)

For now I didn't manage to create a new instrument (as there is no midi number for ukulele).

Maybe it is also possible to add a low G ukulele... (I guess the syntax would be with a lower G in the tuning... but not sure).

I support Ukulele in my ABC Transcription Tools based on abcjs.

Here are the render params I use:

I tried and got the same result as Paul Rosen's tablature: a problem with reentrant tuning I guess. The 4th string gets messed up.
(But thanks for adding the code, this way I can add the instrument in the options instead of messing with the core abcjs 👍)

And if I don't put the coma after the "G," I don't get the tablature at all in abcjs.

Yes, abcjs doesn't handle reentrant tuning for tablature so any automatically generated Ukulele tab is going to have challenges.

Since, at least for traditional Irish music, you'd have to "fold" notes below C somewhere, I just treat the high string like it's an octave lower providing a "folded" solution to melodies, with the tab based on the following string pitches:

['G,', 'C', 'E', 'A'],

As to whether it's an appropriate solution for chords, that's another story, but wasn't what I was intending the Ukulele tab in my tool to used for.

As far as "I don't put the coma after the "G," I don't get the tablature at all in abcjs." if you are talking about custom tuning, yes, every string MUST be higher than the previous one in the list.

Specifically says:

"Strings are numbered from low to high and use ABC pitch names.

Each string must have a different pitch and be higher than the previous one.

This means that "re-entrant" tunings like for Ukulele and 5-string Banjo are not possible."

@seisiuneer Yes, I believe that making tablatures work for reentrant is not just a cosmetic feature but requires quite some coding developpment. The tablatures tool, in its current state is still very good for melodies 😉. Chords are the limit. Thanks again for the clarification. 👍

This is definitely something I'd like to fix! But I can't give a time line. There are some technical complications.
