Name rebranding

SQLite maintainers asked software developers around the world not to use phrase "SQLite" in their software names, because people tend to mistakenly attribute these 3rd party apps to SQLite team and asks them questions about these apps, including midnight phone calls (I have no idea where they get the numbers from). Initially I was unaware of this, but now SQLiteStudio has went against that request for far too long and I plan to rename it, including references to that (SQLiteStudio) name in the source code class names, documentation on github (hopefully github will allow redirecting to new project name), homepage, etc.

Tasks:

• Pick the name
• Change GitHub repo name
• Update homepage contents
• Change homepage domain
  • Make sure to redirect from old domain to new
  • Test if updates checking still works in the app after domain redirection
• Update source code accordingly
  • Relevant class names
  • Relevant text/string appearances
• Update README.md
• Update Wiki

You can maintain some continuity by making your product name SQLStudioLite or StudioLite, so people can know it is associated with SQLite, but it does not use the name explicitly, so hopefully, people won't think it is a product produced by the SQLite folks.

I don't think name continuity is that important if all pages (sqlitestudio.pl and github.com/pawelsalawa/sqlitestudio) will redirect users to the newly named domain/repo. I will also mention that it was formerly named SQLiteStudioto avoid confusion.

Frankly speaking I never liked the name "SQLiteStudio" that much. It's long to pronounce, long to write. I like idea of a short, catchy name.

Just downloaded and LOVE it! Copilot suggested it to me and my mac mini i7 Sequoia v15.7.2 [which btw, was back one release of SQLite. If I may [a former DBA in a wonderful world when Sybase ruled the planet], ask you to consider:

Product name: TupleBench
Tagline: "Your multi‑platform workbench for mastering SQLite”

Fairly unused term and no hashtags. #justSayin

That will be $64,000 or one Zoom call for 15 minutes. {grin}

Thanks for the name idea, although I have already picked the name, that I like (none of mentioned here so far).
I don't want to tell the name yet. There will be right moment for it.

I've never worked with Sybase, but I did work a little bit with InterBase (not FireBase, but the original InterBase). And Oracle, of course. Oh how I hated Oracle... ;)

Regarding Tcl software you wrote - is it something available to public? Do you mind sharing the name or url? I'm always curious to see what people do with it.
Even though I found it (the Tcl) insufficient for SQLiteStudio, I still use it for tooling. Once upon a time I was implementing in Tcl an app running on Cisco routers (they have Tcl interpreter built-in, or at least they used to have it). A fun experience.

I was writing commercial apps with Turbo Pascal, then Delphi, and used InterBase. ReportSmith was amazing. Oracle 7.x came with my NeXTstation for free. I was maintaining the helpdesk app at LexisNexis [C*STARS] built with TCL. Then, I wrote the company's Change Management app with TCL but neither were available to the public.

In 2000 I wrote a widget for existing websites to do eCommerce and used TCL, Expect, and PHP called RMS2WEB:

P.S. I also wrote an app for equipment rental in Hospitality [think beach chairs, toys, golf carts, etc] using PHP and Expect [an extension in TCL]. That was June 2001. It is still in use today, but no longer for sale.

Personally (no offense), neither one sounds very... catchy to me.
Some suggestions (not sure if/how they are used for other projects): Tabletop, Squirrel, Squid or Squill

My choice would be Squirrel - it contains SQL, UI and relational - unfortunately, someone already thought about that :-)

Tabletop seems to be "available" ;-)

I have a name picked (none of above). It's short and not used yet (as far as I did the research). I will reveal it probably soon after I finish work on #2865 , because renaming will require lots effort (github repo, domain, homepage contents, README, Wiki, sourcecode mentions, etc) to adapt new naming and I don't want to do it in the middle of active work on #2865. Until then I don't want the name to become occupied in various places.
