Doesn't show any Aircast devices #545
Comments
What devices do you want to see? |
I would like to see my Google Nest Hubs and Displays. |
Probably an issue with firewall or your network topology where multicast announces are blocked across different branches of your network (WiFi / Ethernet). Your router might have a feature called IGMP snooping that causes issues. |
I don’t believe that they is a connection with the IGMP snooping. |
HELP!!! Greetings From Singapore! Could you maybe guide me to where to go from here my fellow German human! |
The 13:07 … can not be the ip address. |
Exactly DieBreuers, according to you what should I do now> |
I don’t know. |
Hmm Thank you for your help, it surprises me that people like me who this software will greatly benefit can't even get over a simple installation and I am quite tech savvy, It feels bad giving up on this after trying for 2 weeks but if even phillipe won't help me then I dont know who will. |
If you are tech savvy, you should be able to download the zip archive, unzip it, open a terminal and manually launch aircast or air upon. Use the static version as macOS is really trouble with some shared library. Look at closed issues, there are tons of people who struggled a bit and finally got it to work. Philippe (I) can't write multiple free software, so the L1 to L3 tech support and have a life. I don't mean that in a aggressive manner, it's just the facts of what these things are. |
didn't mean to offend you bro, but yeah I did all that and it still won't work, only if I could have you take a look at my system for 5 minutes I know you'd fix it, I dont doubt your skills and im very very thankful for this software which you have made, it has probably changed many lives, I just wish it could change my families life as well, is there no way for you to look into my system directly. only for 5 mins?, and why is my IP address showing up as 172.xxx.xx.xx? when it is 192.168.xx.xx? is that normal or changing that will fix my issue? |
No I don't do that, for all sort of security reasons and for your own good. At least, I'd need to see a log when you start AirConnect like @DieBreuers showed |
When you say "it works under HA", you mean on the same Mac, if you ran HA and then add the AirConnect extension that somebody else did? |
Look on the internet how to download and unzip the file from github and run an application from a command line. When you have that, take a screenshot |
Yes I have tried it without the same Mac. |
You mean "with" the same Mac, right? If this is the case and it worked in a VB, then this is really related to how the network access is configured when you run it otherwise. You are sure that the network address where it is bound to is the physical address of your network? Do you have 2 networks on this Mac, like Ethernet and WiFi and the VB machine would pickup WiFi but in the command line [en] is used by aircast by default |
Note that the macOS firewall will need to be disabled entirely. I wasn't able to make it work by just adding the specific AirConnect binaries to the firewall exceptions for inbound connections. |
yes firewall is completely disabled |
HERE ARE THE LOGS MY DEAR SIR! Saving session... [Process completed]) |
You're close. Use the static binary instead -- this has all the required libraries included, so you won't get the lib crypto issue. Your speakers should be discovered fairly quickly if it's working. |
ok dear sir! I will get back to you asap! |
I'am running it on OS X 11.7.10 but it doesn't show any devices.
After starting I only can see this in Terminal:
[12:12:23.306] main:952 Starting aircast version: v1.8.3 (Feb 1 2024 @ 01:11:02)
[12:12:23.307] main:959 no config file, using defaults
[12:12:23.307] Start:709 Binding to 192.168.178.145 [en1] with mask 0xffffff00
[12:12:23.310] Start:735 Starting pico HTTP server on port 57080
My other normal Airplay Devices and my Sonos are shown in iTunes at the Mac or my Ios devices.
Iam shure i made a mistake but I don't know which.
Thanxs :-)
