Question: Why is the default value for the YAML time stamp a string and not an ISO 8601 date time stamp?

I've just started using Linter for the YAML time stamp function, which seems very useful. Why is the default value a string? I removed this and left the option blank and the default moment.js time stamp (which is in ISO 8601 format) is recognised by Obsidian as a date and time property, which seems sensible to me. Thanks.

Hey @jamie-reece , that is a good question that I am not sure of the answer on. That default was set long before I started working on the Linter. So I assume it was because it made the date format clearer to the user. Personally I would prefer users not be able to use a blank format. Because that means there is a decent potential that checking if the data complies with the user's format may result in unexpected updates. But that is just my assumptions given what I know from working with the code.

Hi @pjkaufman, thanks for getting back to me. I guess there's also a chance that the property type didn't exist in Obsidian when the plugin was first developed. In any case, I agree it probably doesn't make sense for users to specify a blank format, but I wonder if the default would be better as an ISO 8601 compatible time stamp for long term sustainability.
