Pickadate should allow to copy/paste or type dates

the current implementation of the datewidget requires users to choose the date by selecting it in the calendar popup.

when entering data for a lot of objects and with dates many years ago (think of birthdays) this can get very tedious.

a widget that supports entering the date (with the keyboard) in a format of the users locale would greatly simplify this task.

there is an example that combines pickadate with date.js to achieve exactly that?

would it make sense to add this functionality to the pick-a-date pattern?

Or are there plans to replace it with http://patternslib.com/date-picker/ (which seems to handle this usecase - did not test a lot)

Using http://patternslib.com/date-picker/ would probably be better; however, they don't have anything for a time widget.

I am +1 on the ability to enter a date manually

actually you can enhance your "pickadate" patternoptions to
{"date": {"editable": true, ...}, "time": {"editable": true, ...}}
to get the fields editable, but unfortunately the pattern doesn't save the values. maybe a missing event trigger? Version: Plone 5.1rc1
