Cannot install via HACS - repository loads but no integration

I must have done something silly but can't figure out from the documentation what it is. I am trying to install via HACS on HA Core 2025.5.3. I add the custom repository, restart HA, clear caches, and do not see the illuminance component at all. When I go back to the custom repository settings in HACS sometimes the ha-illuminance repo is there, sometimes not. Does this work with the latest home assistant? Is the type of repository not integration?

After adding the repository, you need to download the integration. If you're using HACS 2.x, then Illuminance should be listed under "Available for download". If there are too many integrations in that list, you can filter by entering Illuminance in the Search box at the top. Once you find it, click on it and then click on the DOWNLOAD button at the bottom-right of the screen. Or, alternatively, in the "Available for download" list, click on the three-dot menu at the far-right of the Illuminance line and then select Download. Once you've downloaded it, you'll need to restart HA. Then you can go to Settings -> Devices & services, click on ADD INTEGRATION, type Illuminance in the search box, etc.

Sorry, was out of town and couldn’t get email. It does not show up for me, and I tried searching and also did not find it. I also noticed that when I add it to the custom repository list it disappears on its own, something none of my other integrations (including Sun2) do. Is there a specific log I can look thorugh for messages that may help point to the problem?

FWIW, it works just fine for me with HACS 2.0.5. I have no idea why it wouldn't work for you. Maybe try to get help from the makers of HACS???

Unfortunately, I know nothing about the internals of HACS and how it works. I can't possibly explain why it forgets a registered custom repository. I can't explain why it seems to be unable to install the custom integration, or sometimes doesn't even show it. I don't have this problem, nor have I heard of anyone else having this problem with this integration on HACS. Only the person who wrote HACS can help you with that.

Once you do get it installed, I'd be more than happy to help with any issues or questions you might have with this integration.
