Calling server / built-in tools

Apologies if this has already been addressed in the documentation - how do I make the LLM use built-in tools such as GPT's web search or Claude's web search?

From cursory research, it seems that ChatOpenAI uses the completions API, and not the newer Responses API, so the "built-in" tools that it can use is limited to web search by setting model="gpt-4o-search-preview".

Incidentally, web_search_options is not typed causing the type checker to complain when specified in chat(kwargs={...})

I found that this works for Anthropic:
