really almost no one reads the privacy policy so placing very important information ONLY there and nowhere else is not very user friendly

Expectations of this kind of thing have definitely changed over the years. It as 100% normal for your country to be displayed on basically every service in the past. It still is common for a lot. I'm not sure if we need to show this at registration but I've taken your feedback into consideration.
