Is there a way to preserve the modification date when outputting files?

When using pug to compile new files, even if there are no changes, the modification date on the resulting HTML files changes.

Is there any way to preserve the modification date of the original file?

I suppose this would be tricky to do, since you'd have to track if any file involved in the compiling of a specific html output file was changed...
