I think it might be interesting to have a "staging mode" for when admins are first trying to set up their configuration. In this mode, we'd make changes like:

  • We'd do temporary redirects to the urlPort, not permanent, to alleviate this problem
  • Outbound distribution would be disabled and inbound distribution would be blocked, to prevent damage if the admin ended up changing hostname/port/etc.
