• Support platform-specific behaviors

  With the release of Setuptools 48 and especially with Setuptools 50, we learned that many environments maintain their own patched copies of distutils. When a project like Setuptools aims to supply distutils, the patches applied by downstream packagers no longer have any effect. This milestone aims to capture the efforts to restore compatibility for those environments.
