what does --display spice-app do?

i can't find anywhere in the docs that says what --display spice-app does. can someone tell me what it does :)

The --display spice-app option tells QEMU to use its built-in SPICE viewer with OpenGL acceleration.
Key differences from other display modes:

--display sdl	QEMU's SDL window	Host-dependent
--display gtk	QEMU's GTK window	Optional (--gl on)
--display spice	External viewer (spicy/remote-viewer)	Yes, via VirGL
--display spice-app	QEMU's integrated SPICE viewer	Yes, via VirGL

When to use spice-app:

• You want GL-accelerated graphics without launching a separate viewer
• QEMU handles everything internally - no need to run spicy manually
  When to use spice instead:
• You want to connect/disconnect viewers while the VM runs
• You need remote access over the network
• You prefer using spicy or remote-viewer with their additional features
