Problem with parallel: !reference

I have several lines like the following line in my .gitlab-ci.yml file.

parallel: !reference [.continuous-functional-test-matrix, parallel]

The extension shows the following in the Problems Pane.

Incorrect type. Expected "integer | object(gitlab-ci)" yaml-schema: gitlab-ci [Ln XXX, Col YY]

In my settings.json file I've defined `"yaml.customTags": ["!reference sequence"]

The pipeline works as expected. How can I get the extension to accept this as valid YAML?
