ERROR: compilation failed for package ‘git2r’ installation on Mac OS

In R studio I have tried to install the package "git2r" via install.packages("git2r") but the compilation failed. I have installed libgit2 in my conda environment as I thought this could be the problem but I still couldn't install git2r. I have also. tried using the devtools method but it didn't work. The error message I got when installing git2r package :

Having looked into this a bit further - is this package moving away from having a bundled version of libgit2; presumably this would require CRAN to update its build machines?
