Keyboard not displayed on mobile WASM builds

When I include a text input in a WASM build, no keyboard is shown for a tablet/phone. I'm not sure whether mobile device support is "out of scope" or if there is a way to easily show the keyboard.

After a fair bit of browsing and trying a few options, this seems non-trivial.

I've tried

• this repo,
• bevy_cosmic_edit,
• egui using this https://mvlabat.github.io/bevy_egui_web_showcase/index.html
• adding the navigator::virtualKeyboard API to web-sys and calling show when a field gets focus (currently available in Chrome based browsers only)

None of these approaches show the virtual keyboard when focusing text inputs on the browser.

It seems egui should work based on this emilk/egui#1309, because it uses a hidden input field to capture events. Having said that it wasn't working for me on android phone or tablet inputs in the demo page linked above.

EDIT: I've just tried egui.rs though and it does show the virtual keyboard

Thanks for the investigation. Ultimately, this seems like something winit should probably be handling / have support for, though I'm not really sure if it's even on their radar.

I found an equivalent issue over there for native mobile platforms, but nothing for the web.

Thanks for the reply. It seems its on the winit radar for native mobile but not actively being worked on. I've filed an issue for web builds.

If bevy_simple_text_input needs any small changes to help facilitate this, I'm game. But beyond that, probably not.
