Does .mignore support ! statements?

I'm a madman and am syncing my code directory, but I'd like to ignore the majority of .git folders to avoid awkward and obscure conflicts.

That said, I want to sync my .git/config files so that origin and repository-specific configuration is shared between devices. The current documentation signals that the .gitignore syntax is supported, so I tried using !.

I added the following to my .mignore:

.git
!.git/config

the .git is removed and ignored but so are the config files.

The answer is yes! the mignore pattern is driven by a python library: https://github.com/cpburnz/python-pathspec

This supports ! and my problem was that my own patterns were wrong. This works as I want it to:

**/.git/*
!**/.git/config
