Description
Idea Overview
Add a new feature that allows users to create and manage custom movie lists inside Watcharr.
For example: “Sexy Horror Movies”, “Action Movies with Strong Female Leads”, or “Feel-Good Sci-Fi Classics.”
This would let users group movies according to their own creative or thematic preferences beyond the default lists.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I often find myself wanting to organize movies in a more personal way — for instance, to collect together a specific mood, tone, or theme that doesn’t fit into the standard watchlists or genres.
Currently, Watcharr doesn’t let me create arbitrary lists to group movies by my own criteria, which makes it hard to keep track of niche or highly specific collections.
Describe the solution you'd like
I’d like to be able to:
- Create custom movie lists with a title and optional description.
- Add or remove movies from these lists easily (for example, from the movie’s detail page or via search).
- Optionally make lists public or private.
- View, edit, and reorder movies within each list.
Describe alternatives you've considered
The only current workaround is to use tags or external note-taking apps to track personal collections, but this is inconvenient and disconnected from Watcharr’s interface.
Third-party apps can’t integrate directly with Watcharr’s data and UI, so native support for custom lists would provide a much smoother experience.
Additional context
This feature would empower users to express their unique movie tastes and build community around creative collections (e.g., “Favorite Indie Vampire Films,” “Post-Apocalyptic Romances,” “Cyberpunk Noir Gems”).
It could also open the door to sharing or discovering thematic lists among users in future versions.
