Color Profiles download not working

What's wrong?

This FAQ mentions that color profiles can be manually deleted, and on restart of G-Helper, will be redownloaded. That doesn't seem to be the case for me: I manually deleted the folder but on restart it doesn't prompt me to download these again.

Additionally, clicking the "Download Color Profiles" button also doesn't do anything. It restarts G-Helper but nothing changes.

How to reproduce the bug?

1. Delete C:\ProgramData\ASUS\GameVisual
2. Restart G-Helper -- nothing happens.
3. Hit Download Color Profiles -- nothing happens after an auto-restart of G-Helper.

1. Could it be that asus website is simply blocked for you by some reasons ?
2. Do you have any strange permissions / restrictions for C:\ProgramData\ASUS\ that prevents writing there ? Even for admin users?

Anyway - you can just manually download zip, and unpack it to that folder :) Result will be same

So the download happens fine in my machine. But the app just crashes/restarts right after I hit the download button.

1. Is there a place that it downloads the file to, or does it just download to memory? If the former, I could see if it actually succeeds or not.
2. Why doesn't it offer to download automatically for me, as it says in the FAQs?
3. G-Helper starts without admin permissions, so perhaps it can't write to the directory?

Additionally, as I was looking at the logs I made some quick updates. Would you be interested in something like this?

1. It downloads to C:\ProgramData\ASUS\GameVisual

   g-helper/app/Display/ColorProfileHelper.cs

2. It does, button that you see - is the "offer".
3. Process requires admin permissions. If app is not running with them already, it will offer to relaunch with admin permissions

• Did you try running app with admin permissions manually? Does it work then?
• Do you have any strange/limited user account in windows that may not have access to C:\ProgramData\ASUS\GameVisual even with admin permissions ?

@seerge I believe I've figured out how this works now. It wasn't a matter of DNS or permissions issues, but rather the way I was using it. In particular, it works fine if I do the following:

1. Delete the C:\ProgramData\ASUS\GameVisual directory (or the higher level C:\ProgramData\ASUS directory if I don't have anything else in there).
2. Kill G-Helper, and restart it.
3. Hit the "Download Color Profiles" button.
4. G-Helper closes, and restarts, asking for admin permissions. Approve request.
5. Now hit "Download Color Profiles" again, which actually places them in the C:\ProgramData\ASUS\GameVisual folder, as expected.

My problem was that I expected the application to download the color profiles after I hit the button the first time, so I didn't expect to hit the button a second time after granting the permission. Hitting it a second time (after permission) works fine.

I think we could modify the FAQ/Wiki a little bit to clarify this point, to help prevent people from going down the same rabbit hole as me. Not sure how to offer contributions on the wiki-end, as I don't see it in the repo. I do have some unrelated cosmetic updates in here, however.
