Tournament Setup: placing players in buckets doesn't set initial matches?

I'm trying to set up a basic single elimination short tournament and I can't pre-select initial match setups by dragging players to the same letter/bucket.

How can I re-arrange the initial player match-ups?

If drag and drop isn't working, it's probably a bug. Unfortunately it's been quite some time since I actively worked on this and I do remember seeing something like that as a bug, but I hadn't gotten to fixing it.

I've been able to bring up a development version of this, if you could give me an idea of where it's roughly located, I'd be happy to put some work into re-learning node and perhaps fixing it.
