What exactly do I need to do?

I am new to github and I really don't quite know what I am doing here.

I am thinking of getting an Arduino Mega2560 and build my own (because most midi controllers don't have many inputs), but what I do not quite understand is, how do I make the Arduino a midi controller?-- I understand that you have to connect the buttons and potentiometers but what do I need to do to flash the Micro Controller, and what do I flash onto the micro controller, and from where?

I am really sorry to be asking such simple questions here, but again, I am new to website and I can't quite figure out what exactly the instructions are. It would be great to know where these instructions are in this repository, and if there aren't, it would be great to know what I need to do. Again- really sorry to be asking.
