Upstream deleted the issue because they don’t like being called out for embedding spyware in their foss apps.

@sneak @Edmund-Blackadder I'm going to work on this and I agree we should be able to disable it more easily. I made a pretty chunky PR some months ago (#110), where I also build the tool that lets us change the config in the latest version of protonmail (it's no longer a simple text file..).

If you want to contribute, you could make a PR where you get that tool working and have it configurable with an env variable. I recently got commit access to this repo, so we can work on it now.
