[Question] Difference with img.shields.io?

Hello folks,

I just find out that you're the ones behind https://maven-badges.herokuapp.com and https://maven-badges.sml.io. Thanks for the work :)

However, I also just find out that shields.io already offers Maven badges. See https://shields.io/badges/maven-central-version.

Then my naive question is: what's the difference if any? Why should I be using one or the other?

Shields supports badges but I'm not sure if it supports redirecting to the latest version. Also, currently there are two main Maven Centrals - the old one and a new one (see Usage) and it looks like Shields only supports the old one.

Anyway, feel free to switch to Shields.

From what I tried, it does support transparently both the old and new Central (by transparent I mean there's no parameter to set).

Not sure what you mean for the redirect.

Your badge can be a link as well like this

https://maven-badges.sml.io/maven-central/org.apache.struts/struts2-core/

and then clicking on it redirects you to proper version of the artifact
