email list signup confirmation

Do you think our email list signup perhaps could use some sort of confirmation? Like via email after you sign up, or via a robo-filter when signing up? Like if I look at the most recent additions to the list, for example, I find myself feeling the slightest tickle of a sense that they might not be genuine:
