Review and update this package template #31
Comments
Why don't we just use https://github.com/OpenAstronomy/packaging-guide ? Even astropy is planning on that: https://github.com/astropy/package-template#pending-deprecation-warning |
@eteq might have strong opinions too. We disagreed on astropy/astropy.github.com#523 |
yah, I just saw #24 as well |
see also spacetelescope/style-guides#122 |
@pllim now that https://github.com/spacetelescope/ins-jwst-community-software is updated, would you mind reviewing these three PRs when you have time?
Thanks! |
I don't really maintain this template anymore. I still think we don't have to roll our own template. There are so many templates out there already, e.g., OpenAstronomy, pyOpenSci, Scientific Python, and so on. |
That's a good point. There are a bunch of existing references and links to this repo in documentation and standards repos, so I can go through those and remove them, if we don't want to use this anymore (I'm not sure anyone has recently). |
Since @sosey is the INS Chief Engineer and she opened this issue, maybe she can chime in. |
@pllim it's been a while since we updated this repo, I'm not sure of the status for its recommended use and advertising.
do you have any recent useful information on its use?
